Relief India Trust - Focus on the Environment

For every cause that endeavors to make life better in the community, the environmental issues must be addressed. The core objective of the Relief India trust is to make life better on all fronts. Promotion of environmental and natural resource conservation is of focal interest in the bid to make life better.

Research

Relief India trust action research intervention provides space for the perception and engagement of stakeholders in the analysis and change in the conditions forming the milieu of the people whom the trust works with. This also helps the trust to prepare educational material about the environment. Research also helps to identify areas that need attention, what can be done to bring change.

Community and the environment.

Relief India trust has gone a long way in creating environmental awareness in the community through its campaign. The community is made aware of what the environment holds for them and how best they can utilize the environment to sustain themselves. The trust has made sure environmental conservation practices are adopted through proper waste disposal methods, waste management and recycling of waste. Sewage systems are unblocked, waste is picked and properly disposed, dumpsites are fumigated, bushes cleared and bin emptied. This eliminates the danger of diseases and challenges the community to take responsibility of their surroundings. This is also done by mobilizing members of the community, the private sector, the government and other stakeholders. This campaign is also taken to schools to realize a cleaner and safer environment for children.

Agriculture.

Relief India trust is in the forefront of the adoption of sound agricultural practices to ensure that harmony with the environment. Use of chemicals for fertilization and pest control is monitored to make sure that they don't pose a danger to flora and fauna.
Irrigation is checked to safeguard water bodies. Farmers are encouraged to put in place measures to reduce and avert soil erosion.

Forest conservation programs.

Together with other key players in environmental conservation, Relief India trust is actively involved in conservation of forests. This has been realized through influencing the government to pass more stringent laws on forest conservation and raising red flags on illegal logging activities. More trees have also been planted over the years and the trust has involved children through schools in this exercise to ensure they grasp the importance from an early age.

Green energy and pollution.

To successively conserve the environment, it is important to reduce pollution. Through adoption of safer energy that is environmentally friendly, the community has been able to realize this. Solar and wind energy use is on the rise. Relief India trust is committed to help in provide energy solutions that safeguard the natural non renewable resources. Research is fundamental in making sure these options are made available for use. Recycling of waste is a sure way to go to avert pollution. The government waste management has been made more accountable and efficient through campaigns by the trust. The government has also been able to review its policies on green energy and pollution to make them in tandem with environmental requirements.
