There are a number of facts to know about India’s physically and the underprivileged children, the child sex workers who work on a commercial basis, the girl child, the mentally challenged children and those involved in child labour.
  • Out of one thousand Indian born children around seventy of them die before completing one year.
  • Respiratory infection in its most acute form is experienced in one child out of 100 children between zero to fourteen years of age in India.
  • As per official estimates, 17 million children are found working and out of these at least eighty percent of them are found working in the five Indian metropolitan cities.
  • Illiteracy prevails in 71% of these children.

We believe that we must try to enable a situation where rights for all children are ensured in a permanent way. This means impacting and influencing the body that can reach out to all the children in our country – viz. the government. YOUR opinion has the power to influence the government and Campaigning is a powerful way to build public opinion.

It might take time but the change that it brings about is permanent and positive.

4. Are these group efforts or individual efforts that volunteers get involved in?
Volunteer campaigns are all group efforts and nothing is done in isolation. In fact, all our campaigns somewhere merge under a common umbrella of themes for which we all advocate. But yes, that doesn’t do away with flexibility of work in terms of time and the way you would like to be involved.

5. How much time do I have to give?
Volunteerism in Relief India Trust is flexible in nature i.e. there are no fixed hours of working. However, it is a long term engagement. Once you join/ start a campaign, it becomes YOUR campaign and you can give it as much time as you like to make it effective and impactful.

6. How many times a week does one need to volunteer? / Can I volunteer part time?
Most volunteer activities take place on the weekends, and many allow for work to be done in your own time (research/ studies/ networking online/ updating the volunteer group etc). Most of our volunteers are full time employees or students who manage their volunteer action during as per their convenience.

7. Can professionals be involved in campaigns?
Yes – provided there is a willingness to engage and contribute to the campaign positively. E.g. If you are a creative professional such as photographer, film maker, dancer, musician, you could use your skills to mobilize similar talents around you and use this skill to advocate for children and their cause with Relief India Trust’s support.

8. Can I work from home?
You could chose a volunteering option that allows you to work from home, though many of our volunteers also do field work in order to stay in touch with ground realities8.

9. Will I get a certificate?
We sincerely believe that volunteers at Relief India Trust work due to their sheer interest and conviction to bring about a positive change in the lives of the children. Hence their commitment is not dependent on certificates. However, usually after at least a year long active engagement as a committed volunteer, we provide one with a certificate or a letter of acknowledgement from Relief India Trust if required.

10. Will I be paid if I become a volunteer?
No. However, work related expenses like photocopying, conveyance and other expenses incurred can be reimbursed.

11. Will I get an identity card?
We don’t issue identity cards. If there is any specific work/assignment that requires your identity proof of being a Relief India Trust volunteer, an authorization letter is given, which is valid for a certain time period.

How Volunteers Can Participate In Relief India Trust Relief Programs

If there is a volunteer interested in offering services at Relief India Trust then all that is needed is to get in touch with the Volunteer Actions Coordinators based within the city or the nearest city. Volunteers will need to share their areas of interest and details of contact with the Coordinators. People interested can either send in an email or call up the Relief India Trust.

Orientation meetings are held for volunteers at regular intervals. During the meetings, interested volunteers get an idea on the kind of services offered at Relief India Trust. A volunteer can help bring about a permanent change in children’s lives, address the main cause behind violation of children’s rights, and also make the state accountable towards rights of children whenever needed. Those interested in bringing about a difference in the lives of underprivileged, physically and mentally challenged children can certainly participate as volunteer at Relief India Trust.

Every voice counts while campaigning to make a difference to children’s lives. Governments can be influenced and for building opinion of the public campaigning can be done in the most powerful way. Every person could do his or her bit by identifying children who do not attend school due to lack of teachers. Volunteers can voice their demand for new teacher recruitment even if it means contacting authorities within the government.

The entire system can be brought to task for impacting lives of children in a positive way. Efforts put in by volunteers will enable the underprivileged children get higher quality education. A good deed to society on the whole is done by touching the lives of needy children. Changes brought about are positive and permanent, even if it takes some time.

It is not the effort of just one single person that counts at Relief India Trust. It is a group effort in volunteer campaigns. It is not possible for anyone to do anything in isolation. Under a number of schemes within a common umbrella all the campaigns of Relief India Trust merge in totality. The volunteer services that can be offered are very flexible in nature. Relief India Trust team comprises of over 20-25 members with regular and visiting staff. These includes Medical Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists , Speech Therapists, Special Educators, Psychologists, Educationists, Social Workers.

Special Education
In Special Education Relief India Trust observe and explore individuals who have problems or special talents in thinking, seeking , hearing, speaking and socializing. it may include school based or home based program for children according to their special needs.

Medical Consultation


Relief India Trust offer free medical consultation for disabled children and providing assistance for critical care treatments like corrective rehabilitative surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, Botox injections,  eye surgeries, cochlear implant in various leading hospitals.

 Physiotherapy


 The department of physiotherapy gives opportunity to patients to regain control over their lives. Many patients suffering from pain and functional impairment are able to find hope and recovery. The focus of our physiotherapy program is to improve the individual’s quality of life by alleviating pain and increasing tolerance  for activity.

 Occupational Therapy


 The department of occupational therapy promotes health, wellness, productivity and quality of life by teaching skills and functions essential for a productive , satisfying and self sufficient life. Our therapists are expertise in moving vestibular integration, strengthen muscles, develop joints and body alignment.

Relief India Trust Transportation Facility

Relief India Trust provides free transportation for the disabled children in Delhi-NCR to its Rehabilitation center



Relief India Trust and NGO, not only conducts blood donation camps, free health checkups but they also provide education to the poor, lifting up the life of the rural people and taking all sorts of efforts to eradicate illiteracy. At present they are more involved with disabled children all over India. The trust provides free transportation for the disabled children in Delhi-NCR to its rehabilitation centers. The trust has a fleet of buses and vans to transport the disabled children. There are other private organizations who partner the Relief India Trust in providing special vehicles that can provide comfort to the disabled children who need special seating arrangement.
There are volunteers, both men and women, who accompany each disabled child in the vehicle to the rehabilitation centers and back to Delhi NCR. They spend the entire day with the children at the centre where certain disabled children are fed and taken care of. The organization gets its funds from huge companies and even private individuals who generously donate to the organization at regular intervals. There are shows and events organized and the collection of which is donated to the organization. The trust is in its peak developing stage and is spread all over India.
There are parents of the disabled children who have voluntarily formed a pool by utilizing their personal vehicles on weekly basis to transport the children to and from the rehabilitation centre. Thus families who can afford have given donation to the Relief India Trust to provide more transportation to help the children. None of the disabled children have to pay for the transportation charges.

Aids and HIV Relief

To address issues related to AIDs and HIV support programs are offered in a full range. In financial management and results of the programs, the NGO designs, evaluates and manages comprehensive prevention of HIV, support programs and care. Desired accountability is offered. To other NGOs, governments of developing nations, agencies in the private sector, required managerial and technical assistance as well as training is provided.
Relief India Trust functioning with an objective of health development and well-being of children infected and affected with HIV and AIDS in India. Relief India Trust is to provide institutional care homes for the children abandoned and orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

Distribution of Clothes

Where programs for food relief are carried out, blankets and clothes are also distributed by this NGO, free of cost. You can check out the photos on the website to get an idea. Many of the poor children come in old shorts and some have hardly any clothing to wear. They are Relief India Trust.
Relief India Trust Organized cloth distribution in various area. At most care was taken by the members to distribute clothes to the poor, who are in dire need of clothes. Earlier, clothes were collected by organizing a cloth donation camp
 

Distribution of Free Medicines

The poor and needy children are distributed free medication in the relief programs offering medicine. It has been decided that in future too, people will be provided with free services. The needy and the poor in rural India are also provided with medical and surgical treatment. This free of cost treatment is provided by a small team of medical volunteers at Relief India Trust.


What Relief India Trust do

Relief India Trust is involved in a number of relief programs for the betterment of the lives of poor Indian children. The Trust takes up appropriate measures and adopts suitable programs for rehabilitating people in different circumstances. Relief India Trust plays an important part in protecting the global environment as well. A lot of awareness is created amongst the Indian people on deadly diseases like AIDs, Cancer, HIV, etc. for which camps are set up and run all over the country from time to time.
Children living in the slums are also provided nutritious food, medicines and clothing free of cost. The other objective of the Trust is the instituting of Secondary, Primary and Middle level schools for offering free education to the favela, poor and street children.
All the support and indoctrination required are offered by Relief India Trust while addressing epidemics related to AIDs and HIV. To agencies in the private sector, governments of developing nations and non-government organizations, the Trust provides white-collar and technical assistance as well as all-embracing training. Relief India Trust prepared a good number of educational material for child labour turned students at different levels (according to their age and learning levels) and texts for marginalized communities in the society.
