Relief India Trust or
any other NGO relationships with its government is critically important for the
smooth performance of its operational activities. The government is the only
body that can provide sophisticated resources to the NGO. A lot of times, the
NGOs also depend on the government to provide them with the necessary funds in
order to perform the relief work. The Relief
India Trust has always given utmost importance to its relationship with the
government. It is or this reasoning that they don’t have many difficulties in
carrying out their routine social and relief work.
Challenges Posed by
Government for the NGOs:
In order to take the state benefits by the NGO, the state
government enforces several challenges. The NGOs need to tackle all those
challenges intelligently so that its relationship with the government doesn't get
restrained and they also get the necessary resources which they were looking
for. According to a recent research, the NGOs still have to face a great number
of challenges in managing the administrative and operational structure of their
NGO. If the challenges are not met appropriately by the NGO, then the working
environment of an NGO can become extremely difficult to work in.
The Relief India Trust also back this
research based on their own experiences.
Further, the NGOs with unstable environment, create a
negative impact on its stakeholders. It can easily lose its good reputation and
the donors might not be interested to donate anything more to such unstable
NGOs. One critical challenge that NGOs in India can face is that the government
reserves the right to obstruct or also facilitate a certain activity initiated
by an NGO. It might be due to some difficult relationships between the
government and NGO. The government can also have objections with the activities
of an NGO or maybe they are not doing the things the way it should be done.
Further, there might also be some political interference which can force the
government to obstruct or discontinue its services for a particular NGO. NGOs
in any such situation are at the receiving end and their betterment is
dependent solely on how the government would treat them.
At times, most of such things are beyond the control of the
NGOs. The best NGOs could do is to do their best in their operational
activities with full concentration on the motive. Their performance should be
such that nobody could question their credibility. Further, the representative
of the NGO dealing with the government officials should try to establish very
friendly relationship. They should always look to update the government about
all their social work progress on a regular basis and take their approval.
Moreover, the NGO should also try to play its part in most of the government
work that is being done for the benefit of the society. It is all about give
and take. You have to give something or support the government if you want the
same for yourself in return.
